New Paper Alert: The protective role of teacher support against SGM youth alcohol use

Check out our recently published article “Teacher Support, Victimization, and Alcohol Use Among Sexual and Gender Minority Youth: Considering Ethnoracial Identity” in Prevention Science!

The study found that although victimization (i.e., bullying and harassment) was associated with greater alcohol use frequency among sexual and gender minority (SGM) teens, perceived social-emotional support from teachers attenuated this association. This buffering effect of teacher support against alcohol use was even stronger for Hispanic/Latinx students compared to White students.
